In the midst of a recession, Michelle Obama and her two daughters are spending Presidents Day on the slopes at the star-studded resort of Aspen, a source who is a longtime ski instructor at the mountain confirmed to the Daily Caller.
The Aspen Daily News first reported the vacation.
The source told TheDC that the Obamas are there with their young children and two female friends of the first lady. The group is staying near Buttermilk Mountain, at the “huge private home” of Jim and Paula Crown — the family that owns Aspen Skiing Co. There are a large number of Secret Service agents with them, and the Crowns have reportedly relocated to Little Nell Hotel until things quiet down.
Good thing it wasn’t Laura Bush, because then the “Occupy” folks (“We. Are. The 99%!”) might actually be upset.

I promised myself I’d dig into this when I got the chance. Over the weekend as I was working I’d catch bits and pieces of “Santorum blasts Obama over religion” and other such hyped headlines on the radio.
OMG!!1! What’s up with THAT?
Here’s the setup;
New York Times reporter Richard Oppel Jr. got emotional in defense of Obama while trailing GOP candidate Rick Santorum through the Midwest: “Santorum Questions Education And Obama.”
Oppel pounced on a Santorum comment on Obama’s “phony theology,” and falsely conflated the remark with rumors that Obama was a Muslim or not American, saying that such talk “got so bad at one point” during the 2008 campaign that John McCain had to correct one of his supporters. (Never mind that the “Birther” myth started among Hillary Clinton supporters in April 2008).
Wouldn’t aggrieved lines like “it got so bad at one point” (even when inserted into the mouth of Republican John McCain) be more suitable coming from a liberal columnist, rather than a campaign beat reporter whose mission is to report the facts, not provide moral judgment?
Remember, Obama himself compared his policies to those of Jesus Christ Himself;
If family values didn’t matter to Democrats, if it didn’t matter to people, Clinton wouldn’ta cared, it wouldn’ta mattered. And he probably didn’t want to do all that, but he had to. You want to talk about Santorum, Obama started this. If I may be bold, Ms. Walsh, it was Obama who started this at the National Prayer Breakfast. Santorum is simply reacting to Obama. Obama was the one who equated his policies with Jesus Christ, for crying out loud. We haven’t had a Republican do that in I don’t know how long. But Obama did it plain as day. And where were you, Ms. Walsh, and where were the rest of you libs? You’re probably gritting your teeth, but you say, “Okay, he’s our guy, we know what he has to do.” Another indication of just what the Democrats think they’ve gotta do to win reelection. They’ve got to show themselves to be at least friendly and nonthreatening to Christians and southern conservatives if they’ve to have a chance. Otherwise Obama wouldn’ta wasted time trying to equate himself and his wonderful policies to Jesus Christ.
So he started it. That’s what everybody has to remember here. Obama started it. Santorum was reacting. Pure and simple. And this was not all that Santorum was talking about last week. He was also doing extremely well talking about the economy, manufacturing. He hits grand slam home runs when he talks about such things as providing decent jobs for people who don’t have college degrees in this country. That’s a lot of people. And he hits grand slams talking about that stuff. He also mixes in the other stuff. And this next sound bite, this is what sent ‘em in orbit. This is Jackie Gleason to his wife in the Honeymooners, “To the moon, Alice!” which she really ticked him off. Santorum said this Saturday in Columbus, Ohio. He was at a Tea Party rally.
What Rick Santorum said;
SANTORUM: This is what the president’s agenda is. It’s not about you. It’s not about you. It’s not about your quality of life. It’s not about your jobs. It’s about some phony ideal, some phony theology. Oh, not a theology based on the Bible, a different theology.
You know the theology he was referring to; that of “Earth First – Man Last”, the normal theology of the leftist.
Santorum’s full response to Bob Schieffer on “Faze the Nation”;
SANTORUM: The price of fuel right now, they’re talking maybe by the summer we’re looking at $5 a gallon. Why? Why? Because this president systematically is doing everything he can to raise the price of energy in this country. He’s shutting down all sorts of opportunities for us to drill for oil. He’s now trying to infuse not science when it comes to the environment, not environmental science when it comes to drilling wells for oil and gas in Pennsylvania and North Dakota and other places that use hydraulic fracking.
He’s [Obama] trying to do again what he tried to do with global warming. Instead of using climate science or global science he uses political science. And political science in this case is suggesting that a technology that has been successfully used to drill hundreds of thousands of wells in this country, hundreds of thousands of oil and gas wells, all of a sudden now that’s a dangerous technology. Why? Because it could lead to lower energy prices. That’s the dangerousness of this technology. It doesn’t fit his pattern of trying to drive down consumption, driving to drive up your cost of transportation to accomplish his political science goal of reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
This is what the president’s agenda is. It’s not about you. It’s not about you. It’s not about your quality of life. It’s not about your jobs. It’s about some phony ideal, some phony theology. Oh, not a theology based on the Bible, a different theology.
So as the hacks on the news shows and the so-called “media watchdogs” try to convince you Rick Santorum is “attacking Obama’s Christianity” or lackthereof, remember it’s not about attacking Obama’s “Christianity”, it’s about his true religion, that of a Global Warming, capitalist hating, Earth firster, which is as much faith-based as any religion on the planet.
