2013 Tournament of Roses Parade takes a moment to surprise a family with daddy coming home from Afghanistan early
*sniff*
The float was called “Canines with Courage,” designed to be a replica of the U.S. Military Working Dog Teams National Monument, scheduled to open next fall.
Actor Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance Pet Food sponsored and built the float, which included a K9 named Lucca, a retired military dog who lost one of her legs to a roadside bomb in Afghanistan while saving the U.S. Marines.
Needless to say, when the float stopped and dad got off, everyone was choked up:
